Doctoral Degree in Mechanical Engineering

A minimum of 72 graduate credits is required, including at least 48 credits in course work. A maximum of 24 credits of course work (with grades of B or better) from a master's degree program or previous postbaccalaureate graduate studies program may be allocated toward the doctoral degree. These credits must be approved by the student's major department, the graduate dean and the Office of Admissions and Records. At least 30 credits of 700-level courses beyond the bachelor's degree, exclusive of dissertation credits, are required for the doctoral degree. As many as 18 of these credits may be used from a master's degree program.
